In November 1991 six world famous photographers were invited to Beirut on a commission to photograph the devastated downtown of the city following the end of the Lebanese civil war (1975-1990), the images included here were taken by Gabriele Basilico.

The Great Smog of ‘52
These chilling images were taken during London’s Great Smog of ’52. For four days the city of London was blanketed by a poisonous smog that reduced visibility to a few yards and led to an estimated 12,000 fatalities.
